EV'S are dead

You should know better than get me started on this subject, but....LOL!

The mainstream car manufacturers just don't know how to make EV's profitably, so have in reality given up. People don't want to buy their EVs because they are heavy, low range and high priced! The software is really really bad, lots of problems and nobody wants their substandard EV's.

On the otherside, Tesla goes from strength to strength. Koria and China also are beginning to produce low cost, long range EVs that are lower cost and higher quality. Tesla and those companies are the future main car companies, and the old western mainstream car manufacturers will become tiny to what they are now.

I don't think combustion engine cars should be banned, and there shouldn't be an artificial time limit on producing them. People will change over to electric in their own time, and the disruption has already reached the tipping point where it has become unstoppable. They will only get cheaper, better and more desirable whist combustion will become less popular in towns and cities, the petrol will continue to rise to the point of only the very well off will be able to afford to fill up. Petrol stations will become charging stations.

If you want hydrogen in your cars, the price of such will be over three times more expensive than petrol. It will leak from your car overtime, even when parked up. You'll be driving around a potential bomb. There will never be enough hydrogen stations because of the huge cost of them. In fact the stations that were have mostly gone now. Hydrogen is a technology that should have come 15 years ago, its too late to the party to compete against electric cars.

Anyway, I can talk forever on this subject but will will try and hold off unless invited to counter...

I think you live in a bubble Mr Honcho.

The reality is that EVs simply don't work for most people.

If you're lucky enough and wealthy enough to have covered your house in solar panels and be able to park the car outside your house (or in a garage) where you can easily plug in a charging cable every day. And don't have to drive over say 300 miles from home without access to free charging points. Then EVs work for you. If not, they don't work.

ICE cars are so simple and easy to use. I come home, switch off the engine and that's it, no phaffing around with charging cables. If I need to fill up I'm done in less than 5 minutes. When EVs can compete with that level of convenience and similar range, I will consider one. It's just a common sense position. It's common sense for you to have an EV because it works for you.

One thing you have to ask yourself. If EVs are so good, why did many governments of the world (not all) have to ban the sale of petrol cars in the first place!? If EVs are such a great solution, wouldn't people have naturally moved to them!? There is nothing technologically disruptive about electric cars. The disruption is from government bans (which greatly serve China - the worlds most polluting country.) Electric cars have been around since the early 20th century. We had electric milk floats in the 60s.

Because of supply and demand, the price of petrol could actually go down (like during COVID) when lots of people are using electric cars.

A lot of the EV sales come from fleet and leasing companies, not Joe Public. EVs have had massive subsidies to help them be produced and sell. Those subsidies and financial carrots won't last forever. China is massively subsidizing their electric car companies because they see an opportunity to kill the Western car manufacturers (and useless Western governments are letting communist China get the upper hand) - once the traditional Western car manufacturers are dead, China will start pushing up the prices. And pay per mile will come in. So in the future, you won't be any better off in EVs that you were in ICE cars, perhaps worse off.

It would have made a lot more sense for governments to focus on generating clean electrity first, before rushing to ban petrol cars. It's totally non-sensical having electric cars powered by fossil fuel powered electric stations. The mainstream media wants us all in electric cars. The mainstream media narrative is to push everyone into EVs no matter whether it suits them or not.

We can agree on two things: 1) EVs work for you and I'm very happy about that. 2) One day EVs might work for me and I'll be very happy when they do. But please stop this over-zealous preaching, it has the opposite effect of what you hope for, it puts people off EVs!

And this is a political discussion. Government bans are politics.

Feel free to counter all you like, I won't be listening and I don't think anyone else will either.
