This follows on from "My Grand Day Out"
This is the introduction to my new feature ELINA: My Life As I Live It. This will be an occasional Travelogue series where I invite you to join me as I explore not only the area where I live but also further afield. Each one will be different from the last, I shall be going to different places and viewing different things, I hope you will enjoy them.
About this, my first Travelogue, we travelled to somewhere I had only seen before, now I was actually there, in person no less and Hugs was right beside me (most of the time) sharing my excitement. The choice of music to accompany the video proved to be a challenge, at first I/we thought of Christmas songs, but with so many to choose from covering so many decades, I/we felt that not everyone would like our selection, Christmas Carols were also eliminated for the same reason. Hugs went through his extensive cd collection and found one he thought would be ideal. Neither of us knew then what would transpire. The format is widescreen, we were planning on doing a 4x3 version as well, but the issues with the music (see below) has prevented that from occurring. Therefore I/we suggest you watch via YouTube and ideally with a large, widescreen TV or monitor.
I/we had a few issues after uploading, the first received a world-wide ban by YT., no-one was allowed to see the video due to a potential copyright infringement issue with our choice of music. I/we removed it instantly (the upload) and changed the music for something different, we were both sure it would clear without a problem, it didn’t, so once again it was deleted. Hugs thought of this album, which is the one we used. Although a copyright claim was found, it was allowed to pass if we agreed to advertising being on it in case a ‘copyright infringement claim’ is made. We have played it numerous times over the course of several days using different devices, two laptops and a tablet, always anonymously. The only advertising comes at the end, which was a relief to us.
This is very similar to our original choice of music. Same band, same numbers, different order and different album. I/we include it for your enjoyment or not, whichever the case may be. However we cannot get it to work.
You may be wondering why there is a rubber band around the tripod, well it’s to stop the winder handle from rattling. Playing the video we recorded on ‘My Grand Day Out’ Hugs heard a constant rattle, as his car is rattle free he was puzzled where it was coming from. Eventually he found it, now it’s cured and Hugs is happy again!
I/we featured the Christmas carol ‘The Twelve Days Of Christmas’ a few interesting facts about this. If you total all the presents they come to three hundred and sixty four, one for each day of the year. Why not three hundred and sixty five? Well, she wouldn’t get a Christmas present on her birthday, would she? It was featured (for the first time) in the children's book ‘Mirth Without Mischief’ published in 1780. There have been many variations of the lyrics since then, it was the 1909 publication by Frederic Austin that established the current form of the carol. He arranged a traditional folk melody, adding a two-bar motif for "Five gold rings” and commencing each verse with "On." It was in the 1966 version that "Five gold rings" became "five golden rings," especially in North America. In the standard melody, this change enables singers to fit one syllable per musical note.
