One of the quiet benefits of being very open about the fact that you’re into dolls is that it removes
all ambiguity from gift-giving and completely eliminates bad Christmas gifts (a least in theory). No more soap on a rope. No more socks and ties. No more sweaters two sizes off or worse, fruit cake.
Everyone also knows my bestie is a serious Doctor Who fan. Everyone knows I collect dolls. At that point it stops being gift shopping and becomes gift logic. Two plus two, problem solved. So naturally, someone gave my bestie a Doctor Who companion Barbie.
What really made me laugh was his first reaction. Not “Oh, cool, Ruby Sunday,” but:
“She looks like Rose Tyler.” Which, BTW, is his favorite companion anyway.
That’s the thing with Barbies, they never actually resemble the actress they’re meant to portray, so your brain just sort of free-associates instead. And in this case it landed firmly on Rose. Blonde. jacket. vibe = Rose. Naturally, the
very next thing he did was ask AI what mods he should make to turn her into Rose Tyler.
Well, there is now a plan, but not a schedule. Practically speaking, it has joined his ever-growing to-do list of projects he will absolutely, definitely get to someday.
So… more on that later. Probably. In a separate thread. 😄

P.S. Carla says she wants a David Tennant doll for next Christmas.
