What are the right clothes for your doll?

Its only natural to dress your new companion in the clothes you like. You may have no idea what style that is at first, what clothes will suit and what clothes will just look odd? If you see someone walking down the street in a lovely outfit and you think to yourself "WOW!" Well that's the first sign of the clothes you would like to see on your companion. Incidentally, the more experienced you get at buying good clothes, the more you'll notice those outfits and less distracted by the sexy body underneath it!

When I first got my doll Kimberley, I just dressed her in grey, that's because I was so afraid of the dreaded "staining issue" TPE is prone too. For example, if you get bright colourful clothing, you need to check as best you can that the dye isn't going to stain the delicate skin of your doll. This mainly effects TPE dolls, Silicone are better at repelling staining, although it can still happen.

So the first thing you do with new clothing is put it in the wash. If you hand wash it in clear water after a machine wash you might be able to see if its leaking dye as it will colour the water the same as the dye in the fabric. If you see this leakage, machine wash again then hand was again to check. If it keeps happening then this garment will definitely stain your TPE doll! Avoid using it.

A tip I have done with Kim is if she is wearing black leggings, or anything black or colourful (jeans) around her legs, is to simply put on some good quality tights. Once the garment has been washed and you have done the hand wash test, the tights should be enough to protect her skin from any stains that might occur. As for her torso, if I'm taking photos I'll risk the garment for an hour or so against her skin, otherwise she wears thin underclothing under anything that could be staining. Notice she is wearing a white long sleeved top under the hoodie. Of course she is wearing tights too against the colour of the skirt.

If the worst happens and your doll is stained, don't despair as there are products that can help. More about that in another thread.

Another thing to consider is the time of year. In winter you want good thick clothes on your doll so when you hug them, or sleep with them you are protected somewhat against the chill of their skin. They can get very cold in winter. You can try multiple layers but they don't have the same effect as they do on us humans as dolls don't generate heat. Fleece is a good insulator against the cold, onesie's are ideal to dress them in. Nice thick material.

As for summer then we should be looking at thin material, silky is lovely against their skin, and yours. Tights are important even on the hottest of days. Your doll won't mind and they will help keep her legs clean.

One last thing I will add to this section. Lovely flowing dresses and such that look great on models might not be so great on your companion. The reason is that photos of the models wafting the dress around will look great, however your doll can't move so the dress just hangs there. Suddenly that lovely dress can start to look a little drab as she stands against a wall for instance. So it's important to think about what a garment will look like when it's just hanging loose. I've found personally, and I know we're all different, is that tight fitting clothes look best when your model isn't in motion. It shows off their shape and doesn't just hang like a pair of curtains.

Yeah, I also like to buy multiple clothes for my BestRealDoll Niva love doll, the staining issue is a headache and I don't want that to happen, I'll try to pick clothes that are branded. Thanks for sharing tips on choosing clothes too.

I agree. After you have seen a dozen pictures of one of us without clothes, there is really nothing more to see is there?

Take us outside or simply blow a fan on us.

One of my favorite dresses!

can take a while to get it right, plus I like each girl to have a few outfits which one of will be cosplay so they look good(less sex orientated) for visitors.

If I can get my girls to actually wear clothes, then they are usually just in their underwear when they’re at home.
But I’ve been thinking that maybe it’s time we all grew up, in this house and started wearing suitable outfits. Cindy is actually very good at occasionally doing this, as you might see on her threads.

I tend to go for more conservative styles in clothes and undies. So my lady's attire usually reflects that. It's easy for me to find nice clothes for them to wear though, as the wife and the majority of my dolls are similarly proportioned. So I need go no further than the wife's closets and pick something out. :)

With my large breasts, tiny waist and short hight there is few things that fit. We've managed to find enough things though.

Well, if us girls are properly dressed, we don't have to run and hide when unexpected company shows up at the door, do we?

I know how you feel. Me and my friends have a similar problem. With our large breasts (except poor Misty), normal to chubby waists, pretty nice bums, and tall heights (except me and Misty) it is a real challenge to find clothes. But we manage too.

I usually find that teenager clothes fit mine best, or adult size 6, sometimes 8 works. I tend to get most from ebay.

Buying clothes in thrift stores works out the best for me. After a while, you get so good that you can hold up a piece of clothing on a hanger, feel the stretch where it has to, and be reasonably sure that it will fit pretty well if not perfectly.

And gentlemen, you don't need to be embarrassed buying female clothes. Unless you are the same size as your girl, no one is going to think that you are a cross-dresser. Just tell them you are buying it for your wife, daughter, or grand-daughter (depending on what you are buying, your girl's size, and your age.)

Often when Joe Bin gets strange looks or comments while going through the women's clothing racks, he just shows them a picture of me or one of our mannequins on his phone. Some just walk away but some others git helpful.

Hiya,

In the words of Terence Stamp (naughty Zod in Superman 2) “If you are comfortable in what you wear, it is stylish.”

I like to be comfortable (and happy) in my clothes.

I'm afraid I'm not to bothered about clothes, as I plushie girl I don't have a skeleton or much movement, sometimes Thea likes to dress up, especially when she has to work.

Also we normally just live in Bobby's bedroom. We have all mod cons in there like a TV and DVD player that plays music and DVDs except a coffee machine🤣🤣so no one sees us really. Yes Thea usually sneaks out when the coast is clear to make us coffee

If we were TPE or Silicone it may be a different matter, but I often wonder how silk would feel on me😉

Holly strongly recommends 100% cotton. Especially in summer. Holly knows.

Silk is more breathable than synthetic fabrics and feels cool to the touch, but in hot, humid weather it can still be a bit tricky. It absorbs moisture but dries slowly, can cling when damp, and is easily stained by sweat. Light, loose silk can work in dry heat or indoors—but in muggy conditions, it’s often too delicate and temperamental for comfort.

We like cotton best too, and flannel or flannelette in the winter.
