Making the most of it.

What do flies and local authorities have in common? They usually appear out of the blue and disturb your well-deserved peace and quiet.

Under the pretext that all plugs needed to be checked, an electrician was sent to my place to ensure that law and order was duly respected.
Knowing that anything out of the ordinary would be discussed passionately by the locals in the boozer later on,
— and, even worse, it would be remembered and appear in the next carnival newspaper — I decided to take my girls and all their sexy underwear out of the house, which raised more than a few eyebrows.
I was definitely not keen on seeing my name on the front page.

But why not have a little fun while doing so? In other words, why not enjoy wine, women and song in the open?It became, somehow, an evening that I like to remember.

A while back I had the internet guy over to swap out a wonky modem. Well the modem is in my office and that's also where most of my dolls hang out. They weren't in the way, so I just left them be. The internet guy was there for about an hour and a half. Ten minutes swapping out the modem and an hour twenty admiring and talking about my dolls! :ROFLMAO:

If someone came to my door and said "we have to inspect your house". I'd ask 'where's your warrant?'. I get constant requests to 'check your plumbing,', replace your old copper lines with the newest plastic stuff', offers to 'modernize your lighting, electrical or windows', and of course a casual passerby insisted I need a new roof / gutters/ or what ever they want to make some money at. It's scam to make money for themselves. As far as making my house 'modern', I don't want it. Being built in 1870, my house is 'grandfathered' from most modern 'improvements' that are much flimsier that what I already have. I also like the old style decorative brass doorknobs and solid wood doors inside and a few other things that are now considered museum pieces.

Sounds like a good solid house with character. Not like a lot of the flimsy crap that’s more and more thrown up in the UK.
I wouldn’t let anybody into my house if they don’t have identification and if they haven’t arranged in advance to come and see me.
