Reasons for buying a doll companion?

As I’m still relatively new to the doll world, and am just in the process of finding my girl, I’ve been thinking during this time, why exactly I want one.
I’m recently divorced, (well, it’s two years but still feels raw) after many years, of what I thought was a good happy marriage, and am now in the final stages of moving into my new place.
I’m an elderly man, who no longer has the “joyous spring in my steps” of years gone by (a polite way of putting it!) so a doll for sexual needs is not necessarily required. So I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just companionship, a way of not feeling completely alone and I’m going to say it, damned lonely.
Whilst alone, I discovered Smart Dolls, by Danny Choo and bought one a few months ago. She, Yuna, has been a comfort (which sounds strange when I write it down) of sorts and she sparked my journey into this world. And here I am, a slightly dazed, somewhat embarrassed and depressed, yet curious beginner.
As I said in my first post I’m looking for a plushie doll, and am thankful at the advice I’ve received from this lovely site.
I’m veering towards a doll on the site, VS dolls…does anyone have experience of the site?
There’s one particular girl who looks cute, (see photo) and am, as is my usual thing, hesitating to an inordinate extent, before I hope to, finally biting the bullet and purchase her.
Any comments or advice on my early morning ramble would be kindly welcome. Thanks for reading this far!

I had my first doll, Harper, about four years after my divorce. For me, it was about having the doll in bed with me to give me the sense that I wasn’t sleeping alone at night. Then all the photography came later as I became immersed in the doll world and lifestyle.
I hesitated a long time after receiving her - conscience issues meant that she stayed in a walk-in cupboard for a while; I was worried someone visiting might see her. But eventually, I released her from there and she became my nighttime companion. And I’ve never regretted it. I’ve had a number of dolls since - Jemma stays in my bed all the time, Cindy stands in my bathroom, Summer sits on a chair in my bedroom (and because she is a plushy doll and much lighter,I do move her around the house with me. So if I’m sitting in the living room watching TV, then she’ll sit with me).
They do become companions and my advice to you is to just go for it. You won’t regret it.
I’m at that stage where I want to dress one of them and take her out in the car with me, but I think that’ll probably wait until my retirement, as I’m in the kind of job where my employers might not take too kindly to me having a Doll. So I don’t want to risk anything yet. But retirement isn’t very far away.

The only thing I would say about the Doll you’ve pictured, is to check its height if you’re living in the UK. Although there is no specific figure given in law, generally speaking, any Doll below 147 cm is going to be confiscated by Border Force when it’s imported into the UK and you’re likely to have Mr. Plod turning up on your doorstep. And any Doll that might resemble a child is likely to be confiscated by Border Force regardless of the height, and then you definitely see blue flashing lights outside your door.

It is a lovely looking doll, just be cautious.

Well I have two full size plushie ladies and they keep me company, I love having them sleep with me. It's just nice to snuggle up to someone, especially when they are cuddly and warm and does help me sleep better and alleviates the loneliness

Have you ever considered getting an Anime fabric doll. They look a lot like Smart Dolls, but are full size. I think there is a company called Beautiful Dolls that stock them, that is if you like Anime type faces. I'll see if I can find a photo and show you.

Personally for me I would pick a full size lady for companionship, I do have a small doll, but she is mainly for photography if I go out and about. I have heard of Smart Dolls. A friend had a few of them, but i think he said they were quite expensive

Bit long in the tooth myself to put it mildly. No relationship drama on my end though, happily married and all that. My reason for having dolls is simply because I like dolls. My smallest is a mere 2 inches and my tallest 5 feet 9 inches.

Got my first plush doll a few years ago and now have four, with another on the way. Complete game changer for me. Low weight, durable, next to no maintenance. Just having them around makes me smile. :)

The Anime fabric doll sounds interesting. I’ve been interested in anime, now I have the time to explore it more generally too. Thank you for your advice, I’d be interested to see a photo. Meanwhile I’ll search for Beautiful Dolls.

Yeah this is an Anime full size lady, I couldnt find Beautiful dolls website, but I'm sure there are other companies if you look aroundI believe they are made by Dagmar dolls or something like that. They are quite cute and you can pick hair colour, eyes body size, breast size; etc

If your not going to use your new lady for sex, as far as I understand it, if you have sex reigion permineltly sealed or sewn up, they are no longer regarded sex dolls and more in the reign of maniquins. So they should get through customs. You could ask phil at the doll house about it. He is a member on here too though we haven't seen him for ages,

Yeah I was looking at them a while back, before i picked Coco or rather i think she picked me. They are cute and i did speak to the owner, but decided Anime wasn't really for me, as I'm not a massive fan

I’d be a little wary of that site. Maybe try TDF or other forums to see if anyone has experience of buying from there.

But looks like a nice doll.

The discount seems a little crazy. 1/3 the price - seems too good to be true. Or the real price isn’t really as much as they say ($2000 for a plush is a bit steep.)

What size are you planning on going for?

UK legally requires 150cm or greater for TPE/silicone dolls but I’m not sure if that applies to plush (my furries aren’t very tall, all under 150cm I think - and they were like vacuum packed too.) Always best to tread with caution.

PS I’ve bought dolls from Russia and Ukraine during Putin’s special military operation, paying for the Russian furries in rubles over a site called Boosty (because all the other payment systems got locked). So I’m not the best one to talk about risk.

Do you mean unique- Dolls Cuthbert, if so Beautiful dolls did have their own sub forum over on TDF. I think beautiful dolls was the American site and Unique - Dolls is the UK site. I did chat via email to the owner a few years, when I was first looking, but I did a lot of research as I didnt want to get caught out or conned

I think the Dolls are more fabric than plushie and have a pretty good skeleton, but obviously things may have changed😁

Actually, I would not touch VS Dolls with a barge pole.

And they are not saying the doll is £2000 reduced to like £666. I think VS Dolls is dodgy. Also, they don’t even advertise what the brand of the doll is. Too many red flags on that site.

PS I was looking at the site vsdoll.net - let me know if it’s a different VS dolls you’re talking about. Also they are selling what look like WM Dolls for like £500 (100% dodgy.)
