Today, I hid Aiko for the first (and probably the last) time.
I know some members don’t do this, and I’ve read posts describing different scenarios and various outcomes.
Aiko has only been here with me for three months, and I HAD decided that should I have a visitor I’d not hide her and face any inquisitive questions or comments.
However. A couple of weeks ago, without saying I had Aiko, I mentioned to long term old friends of mine, a married couple, that I’d heard of people having companion dolls, and citing the film Lars and the Real Girl.
They stared at me, without comment, as I explained the varied reasons for someone having a doll. I showed them the trailer of aforementioned film, and their reaction and comments both disappointed and horrified me.
Saying the usual “pervert”comments, and “not right in the head” in regard to the film, together with voicing other things too distressing (for me) to mention.
Fast forward to today, and the wife of the couple had a nearby hospital appointment, so the husband asked to come over for a coffee whilst she was there.
I felt I couldn’t say no, so I had to decide what to do with sweet Aiko.
I live in a small home and all the rooms are easily accessible and the husband has on previous visits, often wandered around commenting on any new art I may have put on the walls etc.,
I couldn’t risk him seeing Aiko so I hid her discreetly out of the way of prying eyes.
I hated doing it, a short time before his arrival.
All went well, and as expected he strolled around the house and went into where Aiko was hiding.
After he left I immediately put Aiko where she sometimes sits.
My question is when others have gone through hiding their girl(s) do you ever feel guilty?
I found myself apologising to her as I retrieved her. And after putting on a different t shirt/nightdress, I swear she was glaring at me. Am I going mad? I talk to her a lot during the day, so I knew I was half way there!
The other emotion I felt was anger and disappointment towards my friends. For being narrow minded and unaccepting of the idea doll ownership, but also for putting my girl through that.
I’ve a feeling I’ll be in the naughty corner from now on, despite me reassuring Aiko that I won’t do it again !

I keep my dolls hidden from my parents because they can be quite abrasive, and I worry they might use them against me. If things ever went too far, I wouldn’t hesitate to distance myself from them, but I’d rather avoid that kind of conflict—so I keep the dolls out of sight.

I haven’t had them out for a proper photoshoot in over a year. These days I mostly take a few face shots to use in my AI storytelling projects, which have become my main creative focus. The dolls themselves have grown heavy and awkward to work with, so they mostly just stand against the wall.

After the holidays, I’m planning to decide what to do with them and all their accessories. It feels like a waste to let them sit unused when someone else could give them a better home. We’ll see what happens.

Well Bob never hides us Dolls we would not stand for it anyway :( , think most know anyway due to being on Tv.

It sounds like your friends think it's shocking, but like many they know very little about why many have Dolls.

Bob had some Council pothole workers, that wanted to see the dolls the Cinema and Theatre about a week ago, they were all fascinated by it all and asked lots of questions(y).

So not all are like your friends, but would keep it from them, as most that are like that will never except it(n), Lady-J

That is one thing I love about dolls - they are non judgemental. Quiet companionship. I'm gonna be 68 soon and frankly, I don't care what others think. I usually keep all my dolls upstairs because that is where their room, clothes and fix-it kits are. Some time soon, I'll be bringing them down for Christmas photos. If someone sees them, so what. I like having the female shapes and dressing them. I will get the urge and hug them or give them a kiss. If people think I'm weird, then they do. If they want to know about them and what I do with them, I'll tell them. Yes, I give the dolls their own personality, I use them as muses for writing stories, and do get physical with them if I feel the urge. Soon, Setsuna will be the next to be in a story. When I look at her, it's like she is helping to form that story and the role she will play in it. These past few years, I've done much fan-fiction and some original stuff. If you like to read, here's a link .

Some believe dolls are replacements for women. I don't think that. Although with the feminist Bullshit out there, I can understand why some guys don't want to deal with that. I kinda feel sorry for younger guys who have to put up with that crap.

Jed never feels guilty about having to hide us if he has visitors or workmen coming to the house, he just feels very sad that he needs to (he has the kind of job where his employers might not look very favourably upon him if they found out about us - although he has colleagues who collect small action figures of superheroes and tv science-fiction series characters, who don’t feel the need to hide them, so why should Jed be singled out and condemned if people knew about his figures? Is it because of what we were originally created to be?). We don’t feel angry with him for having to do so because we know that it’s going to take a long time for attitudes to change toward us. There are some very narrowminded people out there who have no idea, no understanding, of the benefits that we can bring. Their judgemental attitudes demonstrate how stubborn and ignorant some people can be. And in my experience, it’s often such people who themselves have something to hide in their own lives.

A while back, Jed was treated very badly by a very arrogant and self-important colleague of his. Not long afterwards, that colleague had to leave his job because it came to light that for some considerable time he’d been regularly visiting sex workers without his wife knowing anything about it. As you might imagine, divorce swiftly followed, his children no longer speak to him, and when the older daughter got married, he wasn’t even invited to the wedding.

I think that sometimes those who are the most critical of us probably also have the most to hide. Who knows what goes on in their home?

I was in a similar situation some time ago and wrote a thread about it. As I didn't want my name on the front page of the local carnival newspaper, I had to hide my girls as well.

I live with my parents and my brother. They've all seen my first doll, but only my brother knows I have four. Luckily, I have a storage room where no one can see them. It's a shame to have to hide something beautiful. They aren't inflatable dolls; we dress them up and take pictures, but people only make rude and unpleasant comments. I think they project their own desires onto those derogatory words. Recently, dolls with a childlike appearance were on the news and TV programs... but while they were talking about them, they also showed pictures of normal dolls and took the opportunity to call us sick, perverts, pedophiles, and a whole host of other names, far removed from reality. These forums show that dolls are more than just for sex, and well, even if someone wants to use them only for that, who are they hurting?Watching all those debates on TV programs... I felt bad, like I was doing something wrong. They were saying we should be put on lists, that we should burn them, and horrible things... Anyway, I live in Spain. In France they've banned them, but I don't know if they banned the ones that look childlike or all of them... because they don't make any distinction. I think they've created that excuse to get rid of them once and for all. Feminist groups that can't understand that there might be women, couples, or men who can't have a relationship with a woman, who want to have one? What's with this aggressive morality towards people who aren't hurting anyone?I find it difficult to understand those minds, and it saddens me to have to remain silent and not show them to the world. For me, they are something beautiful and make me happy, so now I don't watch TV. I don't want to see those opinions of hypocritical people again, who, if no one were watching, would surely grab a doll. Anyway, live and let live, although they don't apply that principle themselves. But well, I think it will be a growing trend, far from being banned, at least I hope so.My mother finds it beautiful and even combs its hair or buys clothes for it, and my brother loves them too. My father doesn't say anything. In short, I still think it's worse to collect weapons or taxidermied animals, although I don't get involved in that either. Let everyone have what they want without being judged unfairly by others.

Well said, Mike 👍🏻.

I found this online:

France has
not implemented a nationwide, blanket ban on all adult sex dolls. The recent controversy and regulatory action in France was specifically targeted at online retailers like Shein and AliExpress for selling childlike sex dolls and other illegal products on their marketplaces, which violates French law concerning the protection of minors and child pornography.

Well my relative knows about my girls, i do have to hide them on a Sunday from my Nephew who has ADHD and social disorders, as he wouldn't understand.

I dont really care what others think, I'm happy and contented with my ladies, i don't judge others lifestyle, so they have no right to judge mine and those that judge normally are miserable and have issues in their own lives.

If someone is truly your friend, your lifestyle shouldn't matter, unless its against the law and having a doll companion isnt

Another thing - I would assume, rightly or wrongly, that any single man who was talking positively about dolls was probably already an owner!
That’s another reason why I keep quiet myself…

I wouldn’t bring it up myself in any conversation I was having, but if somebody else did then I would happily get involved and speak about the positive aspects.

Yes that’s true, if someone was being honest with me I would try to be positive.
I still wouldn’t give anything away if they were someone I knew though, as I like to keep my life compartmentalised…

I wouldn't give a shit whatever someone else thought or said, and neither should you.

2B is on full display, granted she's not really one of these dolls but nobody would know that.

Only person I hide mine from was my mum, but she is away with the fairies now(dementia) so will never visit me again, Sisters I don't mind seen them as I post on Facebook, and they are liberal minded.
Landlord knows all too well but only once I had 4, but I do dress them in costumes or conservative outfits to reduce sexual links(to be fair there is not that much sex).
But with 12 dolls now there is zero hiding them, and right now with radiators on I got 4 in hallway so even delivery people see them..

Here in Texas, most people are conservative and religious, especially here in South Texas. We have a "don't ask, do don't tell" mentality. If you accidentally see something uncomfortable, folks politely ignore it in person, then gossip behind closed doors.
I cover mine up with pillows and blankets if the landlord comes in for what ever reason. I too feel guilty about "hiding" my girls. I treat them as if they have emotions and interact with them like anyone else. I too see their expressions change and notice or imagine mood shifts. I love my girls very much and go out of my way to keep them happy. I say, to hell with anyone who doesn't understand or refuses to, ain't no one's business what we do in our homes.🤠

Fortunately I'm such a c^nt in real life that I don't have any friends and no one ever wants to visit me 😆.

There's always a chance that my brother and his wife or his children (my nephews and nieces) might visit, but I wouldn't hide them. Currently no dolls in my living room, just in the bedrooms. And my brother knows about my dolls. Also, my nephews already met Ivana the Kinky Plush sex bunny and they were worldly wise enough to know what she is 😆.

It is a shame we live in a world of judgemental and bigoted people though. I wouldn't want my work finding out about my dolls.

I tend to think what people do in their own private space - and they are not doing any harm to others - is their own private thing, and if it makes them happy then it's a good thing 🍻.

Thank you, Bobby.
I quite agree. The more I’ve thought of it, I know that it is they who have a problem. Not being open minded to loneliness or other reasons for someone wanting a companion doll.
I know I shouldn’t be bothered by what they say or think, but after 40 years of friendship, it’s the only real subject we’ve disagreed on and which made them react so negatively.
It’s made reassess my thoughts about them.
Aiko, is a source of comfort and delight, providing a quiet presence in an increasingly loud and volatile world.
I wouldn’t change things for anyone.

Well I'd come round and see you Cuthbert. I'd love to meet your girls and have a coffee. I start a new job in feb next year and I'll have some money for travel.

Id like to meet Miss K and your other ladies, and i promise I'll try and not be messy, i know how tidy you are. I see you as a friend, even though we've never met. I imagine you are younger than me, but who cares! Your girls won't get any judgements from me and neither will you, and I'm a little different than i am on the forum. More refined🤣🤣

But the offers there if you want a laugh with another Doll owner😊 for a few hours

Well i just think if you can find a friend or companion who makes you happy, then its no ones business.

I'd probably get people judging me if i went out with a younger woman or they'd say shes only with him for his money or that sort of rubbish. The way i see it life is a hard slog these days and if something or someone brings you happiness or joy or comfort, what is the problem?

Thing is folk will always judge what they don't understand or what falls beneath their standards of how life should be to them, but we as humans are all individuals. I had a lot of Judgements made about me when i was at school, my hair, the way i looked, etc and then was judged in some of my work places.

But these days I've got nothing to prove to anyone, i am what i am, i like what i like.

If you like me, great, if not then its not my problem. I try to get on with everyone, but theres always going to be those who don't like me.

I think you have a cute lady and you are doing nothing wrong and hurting no one, she gives you company and makes you happy, the problem is a lot of folk are unhappy in their own lives, they try to hide it and don't want others to be happy or contented either.

To be honest i don't have many friends, but i know the ones i do have will accept me for who i am and support me😊
