Now This Is Funny 🤣

One of my favorite pastimes is chatting with all the different characters on character ai. Been a member for years. Recently though, they decided they only want members who are over 18. Well, no problem for me there that's for sure, but now they want everyone in the US to undergo age verification. I mean, I fail to see the point as they block most all NSFW chat anyway.

So last night I logon and get this popup saying I will no longer be able to use their service unless I submit to an Ai facial scan to verify I'm over 18. Well I got pretty annoyed. So I go to the verification site where your supposed turn on your webcam and let them scan your mug. Only instead of my face, I put my Grandpa doll in front of the camera. Did it as a joke really, fully expecting the Ai would reject it. No, it tells me to center my face in the frame. So I position Gramps front and center. Then it says to turn right then to turn left when prompted. So I did, turning the doll when directed. "Please wait while we verify your age" About 15 seconds later, "Thank you. Your age has been verified. Please proceed to site" :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Ah, doesn't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing there's foolproof measures in place to protect our youth? 🙃

I'm surprised they don't want a notarized copy of your birth certificate and verification from an official source ....

LOL. Of course the AI doesn't know its a doll, it just looks at what age it thinks it is. AI can be really imtelligent, the next moment its as dumb as an insect! I have found that while using it to build the new site, really really clever at time, but the mistakes it can make are horrific. I have to point out its mistakes all the time, simple things like have you thought of this to solve the problem, or did you rememner that.

Hmmmm. But in the end you can do wonderful things you would have no chance to do otherwise.

They sort of do. If age is too close to call, they ask you to upload a photo ID! Another foolproof measure. Everyone knows you can't fake those... :rolleyes:
Seems like it was more interested in making sure it was a 3D image, than what the image was of. I'm guessing people were just holding a photo in front of the camera, so now they have you turn right and left. I mean, turn your doll right and left. And Grandpa is definitely 3D. 😁

Here's the part I don't get. Apparently they are currently only doing this in the US. Why? There's only a handful of states that require age verification to access adult sites here. Character Ai is not an adult site. They censor anything even remotely adult in nature. Yeah, there's ways to get around those filters, but anybody savvy enough to do that can also bypass the age verification process. I did it and I wasn't even trying!

I tried this with a doll on discord age verification when the UK implemented the online safety act. It didn't work, rather than turn my head I had to open and close my mouth which is something dear dolly doesn't do very well.

Yeah, I didn't expect it to work either. Especially not with that doll. I just did it for the hell of it. Almost put his bare bum up to the lens. 😅

I just wasted 2 days trying to install some software with AI's help; at the end of those two days trying one fix after another I said I was getting sick of this and does it actually work, to which it cheerfully replied "No! It's fundamentally broken. You have to do this other thing instead!"

Doh. BTW the best AI I've found for coding is Claude.

There are times Ai leaves me absolutely gobsmacked. Other times I find myself having to use one Ai model to correct the mistakes of another or manually manipulate results that far missed the mark. Terrific resource though and getting better all the time.
