If anyone has any information about silicone/TPE doll hybrids, feel free to share it here as well.
From what I understand, these dolls typically use a harder silicone for the head, and it doesn’t interact much with the TPE at the neck joint where the two connect. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be much point in calling them hybrids.
There are members here who own these, so they may be able to share their experiences.
Some facts from the internet....
It’s not random, it’s done to combine strengths:
Silicone (usually the head)
- Holds fine detail better (facial features, skin texture
- More durable and non-porous (easier to clean, less staining
- Typically firmer / harder feel
TPE (usually the body)
- Much softer and more flexible
- Feels more “fleshy” and compressible
- Cheaper and easier to manufacture
👉 So hybrids are basically:
realistic-looking head + soft, flexible body
