Unfortunately now charity shops have wisened up to big label clothes and they are not that cheap, maybe 10 or 15 years ago you might be lucky in the UK charity shops, but since the internet and all these different sites, things have changed.
I used to like Jumble sales on a Saturday afternoon at the end of the sale it was ' fill a bin bag for £1 ' but they have virtually stopped these days
Somewhat true. Thrifting today is not like the old days, even here in Chicago. But just as sellers evolve, we must adapt.
Some stores have gotten wise, especially if they are on the internet. They usually have a person on staff that researches items for what they are worth (Google lens) and if expensive sell the on their website or Ebay. But the larger thrift stores get so many donations that looking for valuables would be like looking for a needle in a hay stack. If you have the time and patience to look for needles, the pay offs can be big. After a while, you lean where and when to look. When you become a regular, the volunteer staff knows what you look for (ie. designer dresses for your granddaughter). They might even call you when something good comes in. If it's a really awesome find, I give them a tenner for lunch and a little extra on the donation jar on the sale counter.
Pex says that if he were not absorbed into writing. He might turn his ability to find clothes for us dolls, guaranteed to fit, into a business. Buy low in thrift stores and sell high on Ebay.
Reading the forums, one of the biggest challenges for doll owners is finding real everyday clothes that fit their girls properly and don't have to be pinned or altered. Any yes, the Ebay ads would be very specific what the clothes are intended for. There is definitely a big unmet demand.
The global sex doll market was valued at approximately USD 411.2 million in 2022 and is projected to reach USD 644.09 million by 2028, expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.77% during the forecast period .
The UK sex toys market, encompassing all adult products, generated a revenue of USD 1,826.6 million in 2022 and is expected to reach USD 3,514.9 million by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 8.5% from 2023 to 2030 .
Pex says he would start with Ebay and once going would try to work out an arrangement with local sex doll retailers with actual stores. After all, I am pretty sure that most potential buyers ask the store clerk, "Well now, what do I dress them in" and "Do you sell clothes for them?" and he/she would respond, "No, we are in the doll business, not the clothes business. But here is a card of a place that specializes in dressing dolls."
