I know it might not be the done thing to mention other forums here, but some of us are also members of UKLDF.
Tonight Tommo, who runs that forum, has posted that UKLDF will draw to a close at the end of this month. New laws on online safety are making it increasingly difficult to run a forum of this kind and the costs involved are becoming too much.
That was the first forum I joined in the autumn of 2023 when I had my first doll. The members taught me a great deal about how to care for dolls and their friendship and enthusiasm inspired me. It will be sad to see that forum come to an end. I’m sure that we would all want to wish Tommo and the members, who aren’t also members here, all the very best for the future and continued fun in this funny little lifestyle of ours.

It's all due to the repressive UK government; this new online so-called safety law casting a net so wide that UKLDF is getting lumped in with PornHub.

So to ask the obvious question, how will this affect MLDC?

Good question. If I get problems I would ask the membership how you would want to proceed. Hopefully this site is clean enough to be ok though?

Unfortunately this affects all user to user services (u2u's) in the UK and not just adult sites, the Online safety act is put in place to safeguard vulnerable people and obviously children too.
There are a lot of forums that are totally oblivious that the OSA bill was even passed, nevermind having done everything to meet the requirements of phase 1 which comes in this month.
They start off saying they don't want to close small forums down, the next minute one finds out your site is in a group with businesses with upto 70,000 uses online a month.
The OSA is a legal mindfield, phase 2 will be a bigger nightmare for 18 rated sites. Sites with domains outside the UK can also come under the watch of ofcom if those site have a large number of UK members, something similar Is happening in the EU, I have heard they just block those sites.

...also, anyone wishing to access 'Hot Chilli Sauce' here will have to undergo age verification checks as part of OSA phase 2 requirements.

It is sad that another forum is going down. Here in the US, instead of coming out to make it 'illegal', to run a doll forum, they use different, slimy tactics to get rid of something the liberals don't want. I ran ODC scince 2000, but somehow Google got i there to screw things up so I shut it down.

Yeah it is a real shame for those who have been loyal for years to the site , I wonder how this will affect other forums like TDF and The Love Doll Network.

Will it mean having to download a form of ID and send it the forum to join it in future?.

Maybe some of the Members of UKLDF will join us here, unless it will affect us too

Official Announcement from the Admin Team

After researching this, implementing an age verification system would require a third-party service to handle the security checks. This is something we may need to consider to ensure the site remains operational.

The main downside is the potential privacy concerns for doll owners. If we proceed with this, we would aim to ensure that any sensitive information remains with the third-party provider. Our site would only receive a verification token—we would not store or access private data.

There is also a financial cost involved. Ideally, verification fees would be covered by the individual member using the third-party service. Otherwise, we would have to introduce a paid membership model, which may not be a viable option.

We hope all members understand why pornographic images are not allowed in the public forums. This is not because we are overly strict, but because we must comply with UK regulations. We do not want to risk any legal complications or provide authorities with any ammunition against the site.

Fortunately, we have a fantastic community that respects these guidelines, and we sincerely appreciate every one of you.

Thank you for your continued support!

Depends on regulations? It's something for the future if need be. Because the site is so clean it may not be needed at all.

Depending on the service, there is also a provider/service fee. Something to the order of £750 from what I've researched, though this MAY be a one off. Not cheap!!

Phase 2 requires verification if pornography is available to anyone likely to visit.

Pornography, to paraphrase, is anything which could cause arousal and is intended to do so. If anything is available onsite which is similar to the content of top shelf magazines, it needs to be addressed.

Not a problem for LDNs Discord. Their forum is another matter if it is self hosted.

TDF could just get blocked in the UK if OFCOM decide so

I guess once we know the costs involved, which are one-offs or yearly's, how much they are, and so on, if they are in range of members paying them, etc, we can make decisions. I can pay something towards any costs of legal compliance, and would think a fair number of us can, but not if it's going to be £1000s.

I do understand the need to protect children and vulnerable adults having both been, worked with, and in one capacity still am, those categories; kids are viewing PornHub well before they are 18, etc.; but the cack-handed way the government have implemented it as it affects hobbyists and small non-profit organisations, who cannot spend from profits like the big guys can, is ridiculous.

Forums already have costs of hosting ... I guess in today's world, this must be seen as another forum hosting cost.

This government will start banning “above-the-ankle skirts and dresses next!”
I understand the need for trying to clean up websites to safeguard the young and vulnerable (in my own job, I’ve had to make a report to the police and child services this very week on a matter affecting a vulnerable husband and two children), but it’s being implemented so very badly and ignorantly. Does it mean that lingerie models for clothing manufacturers will now have to pose like wooden posts to avoid being considered as intending to arouse? Or will they now ban the advertising of underwear if it’s being modelled by a person?
Once again, I feel I belong to the oppressed.

This is sad news indeed. Joe Bin has been a member there since 2012 and has been a lot of fun times for him there through the years. They have been through many changes but have always maintained the core perspective. We will always miss that forum.
Joe bin has a lot of old and new photos saved in there album section, so I guess he will be busy this month trying to retrieve them all.

What she said, and I will dearly miss all the good people on that forum who don't reappear on this one and or on TDF.
