Yes, the 5th string that attaches at the 5th fret seems to be absent. Not sure if that was done on purpose or not. The 5th string of a banjo is a drone similar to a sitar's sympathetic strings, but the way he's playing it, that string may have been in the way...

Mr Franz can play a regular guitar like a sitar. You should show them Mr Franz. 🙂
