Its all in the eyes

The new eyes ordered from *Mishka came today. They are superb, great vivid colours and great positioning potential.

The kit comes with four sets of eye backings of different depths. You can pick different surfaces for the white of the eyeballs and I got the glossy ones. They do seem slightly whiter than the WM eyeballs. The iris are much more vivid and each set has a unique flavour depending on the photograph you want to take.

I got some demon looking eyes to match the kind of stories I tell, but there are green eyes for Willow and Blue eyes for Kimberly as well as some , lets say unusual colours too... Mr Dibble would love some of these for some of his dolls I'm sure.....

Next we'll fit a new eyeball for Willow...

So to begin with I removed the old eye and the cotton wool behind it.

The instructions do say I need to add a little cotton wool for the new eye, but when I did the eye looked like it was bulging out of the socket, so I ended up not using any cotton at all. It might be different with Kimberley when I try her tomorrow?

So I inserted the backing with no cotton wool...

The new eyeball inserted very easy over the backing. It rotates very easy compared to the old eyeball with the cotton backing!

Unlike most dolls, Willow has the extra eyelids that push over the top of the eyeballs....
I had to remove it and reinsert when new eyeball was in.

The can see to new eyes still bulges out a little more than the old one, but I do like the look of her bigger eyes.

The new eye could be moved about very easily using either you finger or better still using the device Mishka sent with the pack. Just use the pointy end in the recess around the iris to change the eye position.

You can easily change to a new iris using the magnet on the end of the device to remove iris, then push in a new one.

The old eye I have to push my finger right into the socket so I can rotate the eye by moving the edge of the ball. That's how all the eyelashes have been damaged overtime.
