Hi everyone,
I hope you’re all doing well.
I am currently working on a project developing a new generation of AI-powered companion robots. Our goal is to bridge the gap between traditional high-quality dolls and advanced AI to provide not just physical realism, but also deep emotional companionship. We are aiming for a future launch and want to ensure the product truly resonates with the needs and desires of the community.
I would love to share a short, anonymous survey here to gather your valuable insights. However, I want to be strictly respectful of this forum's rules. I tried to reach out to the staff/moderators directly via the "Contact Us" link, but it seems to be broken on my end.
Could any of the moderators or long-standing members advise if it’s okay to post a research link here? Or if there is a specific sub-forum or procedure I should follow to get official approval?
I am not here to spam or promote a finished product yet; I genuinely want to learn from the experts in this community to build something meaningful.
Thank you for your time and for maintaining such a great space for discussion.
Best regards,
Ricky

I have only just started to contribute to the forum and as such I can't really tell you anything other than my own thoughts.

At present, I just see these Robotics as a bit of a joke and a very expensive 1 at that. Of course that can, and no doubt will, change in the future. But for the time being I just want a doll to be a doll and that means no electric hips, no sucking vagina, no blow job function or any other gimmick currently being offered. I may be in the minority but until it gets to a level where actual seduction can happen then I'll do without it, thank you very much.

Sounds interesting. A.I and robotics is hot right now.
What's the name of the company doing this development?

A super duper doll yes but , once you buy it that’s it , no more payment to use the services of the computer ,
it’so a very expensive way to go , thousands for the doll then a hundred a month to make it work , then they send a bug and it costs another 100’s of £’s to get it reprogramed , best just sick to a dumb plushie 🥰

Yes, you’re welcome to run a survey if there’s interest.

I’m personally very interested in companion robots. While I understand that some people may be interested in sexual applications, that’s not my main focus. What interests me most is the conversation and companionship aspect, a robot that uses an advanced AI language model capable of discussing a wide range of topics, not just adult content.

The idea of having a companion to say good morning to, ask how the world is going, and receive informed responses, potentially based on real-time information gathered from the internet is very appealing. Ideally, such a robot could also move independently and handle small household tasks.

I’ve been waiting for a robot like this that I could realistically invest in. Concepts such as the Tesla Bot are interesting if they can be produced at an accessible price point, as are similar developments coming from China.

So yes, I think a survey would be valuable. It would help you better understand what people are interested in designing, while also allowing potential users like myself to share what we’re genuinely looking for in a companion robot.

Hi Seth. Thank you for your interest! As we’re still in the research and development stage, we’re not able to disclose the company name just yet.

If you have a moment, we’d really appreciate it if you could help us by filling out our questionnaire — it would be incredibly helpful to our research. Thank you very much!

Glad you think the idea sounds great! 😊 We’re actually trying to find a solution that works best for everyone and addresses exactly these kinds of concerns.

If you have a moment, would you be willing to help us by filling out our questionnaire? It would mean a lot and really help guide our development. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts — they’re genuinely insightful and very much aligned with what we’ve been discussing internally. We are indeed exploring the idea of a purely emotional-companionship focused robot, one that is visually appealing and centered around meaningful conversation and presence — you know, more like a real partner or girlfriend in an emotional sense, rather than something purely functional or adult-oriented.

And yes, I did see that you’ve already completed the questionnaire my team shared — thank you very much for taking the time to do that. We truly appreciate your support and input, it’s incredibly valuable at this stage of our development.

What we need here is a robot doll who can do the house work.
Or at least help with it.

Robotics and Ai have their place, but more as entertainment. Unfortunately i fear when robots are fully activated they may take away manual jobs from humans.

At the moment i feel they would be too costly and complicated and too many things could go wrong with them. Also i don't own TPE or Silicone dolls, just plushie ladies, which are very basic. I also think having a robotic doll takes away the persons imagination, if the robotic doll talks and does everything

If YouTube videos are any indication of consumer grade female robot tech, we have a very long way to go. Lip sync is especially a joke. Looking at a current robot face is much worse than looking at a cheap movie where the sound track is out of sync with the video track. How can you take a conversation seriously without cracking up. The 1998 Furby did lip sync better. Furby - Wikipedia

On the conversation front, current AI is also not there. While personalities that the user defines might be moderately acceptable for a sexbot. Even in that application, it would get boring fast.

For true companionship, the conversations need to be thought provoking, unpredictable, and provocative. Not something LLM Ai is capable of. I think that your goal is noble but also think that you need to raise at least $1 billion in startup capital to have a chance achieving your goal - seriously. But good luck.

Tell you what. Rent yourself a self driving car and take a spin on the Bealach na Bà (Applecross Pass) on full autobetween Tornapress (junction with the A896 near Loch Kishorn) and Applecross (on the Applecross Peninsula).

Then let us all know how it turned out. 😉

IF a true AI sex android is able to be made, there is one thing I would require, NO input outside my own computer. IE: no monthly fees or Wifi subscription needed to make it work. It would have to be completely self- automated except for input from me, here at home. Besides the emotional aspects, it would also need to be able to remind me of items to do when the time comes. For example, time to clean out the stove / it's garbage day, it's noon, have you eaten yet today? Things like that. I do get very involved with some projects and it would be nice to have an android to remind me about times . dates and help me keep track of things.

Even the 'brain' of such an AI I can't see happening for years yet, let alone a multi-functional body light enough to carry if the batteries run down. There's just not enough room in a female form for all the computing power and mechanics needed to make it mobile without weighing over 100 pounds. Solve that, then come talk to me.

The brains are already here, most AIs can do what you asked, it's all a mattter of training it to be your persoanl assistant. I bet ChatGPT, or better still Gemmini could do it inside a robot.

However, a full size sex robot being light enough to carry, I don't think will happen in your lifetime. It would need to be a very lightweight metal or plastic, strong enough not to break just by walking, as well as other activities. And to be that light it would have to just be a metal skeleton such as the unitree G1, which is about 4ft tall. You won't get a sex bot this light with flesh etc. I agree that is years down the line. Just being able to walk and run and things like that will happen first.

But many of these robots have replacable batteries so you don't have to attempt to carry them.

I am sure these chat programs COULD be used inside a personal machine, IF the company sells them as such, but so far, they do not. They still need 'cloud ' support. I asked.
You're right, it will take many years yet to see a truly autonomous android that is publicly available. The companies, especially Google, want you connected to them, so they have no interest in allowing stand alone systems.
As for the mechanical requirements, there are very light metals & carbon fiber that are durable, but very expensive, making them impractical for individual builds at the current time.
Parts and small assemblies can be done (hands/joints/hips), but a complete body a reasonable size would be very difficult to make, and any company that makes one will not want to allow functional isolation from their network.

A robot Teddy Babe might be a bit lighter than the fleshy dolls. More agile with less strain on mechanical parts.😜
