Fumes from TPE

I bought Lily as a companion and I like the feel and idea that there is someone else in the bed at night.

Some nights I'll snuggle up and hook her leg over mine and have her arm under my neck to have that close feeling but I have noticed when she gets warm from the body heat over time there is a chemical fume smell the comes off her and, I don't know if connected, I have a sometimes got a really dry almost sore throat.

Is this something that happens with TPE dolls? She was only born in December so do new dolls continue to cure for months after.

My biggest concern is I don't actually know who she was manufactured by, the online shop used WM pictures but there was nothing to indicate she is a genuine WM doll and being honest, she cost a lot less than a WM doll (I was keen and green).

I am considering a second doll and have seen a couple on the cloud climax site that I quite like the look of so the answer to this may push me into buying another.

I had a kimber doll I used to sleep close too (Kimberley) but never suffered what you decribe with her. I liked the smell. I did have a silicon doll also at the time, but i did not like the smell of silicon. It's amazing how different people react to different makes.

Yes , Think of TPE like a sponge - it’s entirely porous throughout . What you describe is caused by the oils used in production which are still present in the TPE vaporizing when the material temperature rises. , in this case just body heat is enough, When the TPE is colder the oils are more dense so stay put in the TPE and of course if she is new she will have spent some time in a sealed environment.The exact type of oil will vary slightly between manufacturers but is usually mineral oil based so it’s essentially petro chemical derived. It’s not necessarily harmful but people can still be allergic so can still cause reactions.
No disrespect but if your doll is of unknown origin it could be the oils used in production are less than premium quality. Also it’s not unusual for lower budget dolls to be made partially from re-cycled material - again there is no definitive way to ascertain the ingredients.
Something that might help is to put her somewhere warm with moderate ventilation so she can naturally vent her oil smell.
Don’t powder her until she has stopped smelling as the powder has a tendency to seal the oils in. ~Once she has become less smelly (sorry sounds rude) you can apply a TPE friendly oil of your choice to keep her moisturized and you will then be aware of the ingredients in it.
Of course washing with nice smelling soap or body wash etc will help but as the oils are present throughout the entire density of the TPE washing only helps on the surface - it will probably still speed up the whole process though….. good luck.

Try washing her with scented soap and power. I used rose scented antibacterial hand soap and lavender scented baby powder. The smell of the TPE will fade then all you will detect is the lovely floral sent. I don't remember how many times it took. Maybe three or four. I have only had Bella a couple of months so she still has that smell but I've had Summer just over a year and she smells very good. I alternate who sleeps with me weekly and use an electric blanket to make them warm. Summer smells so good I often wake nuzzled in her breasts 😅

I had a doll with a bit of a chemical smell coming off her but it faded after a few weeks. I just made sure to keep the window on the first notch so that the room was ventilated and the vapours couldn't concentrate.

I was panicking thinking the wife would ask what that funny smell was but fortunately she didn't, maybe she's used to weird smells coming off my stuff from time to time...

TPE smell varies quite a bit. Some dolls have a strong odor, others not. Same with oil leaching. Some will stain everything they touch, others not at all. My WM from 2017 only had a sort of new smell when she arrived and even that disappeared after the first series of washings. Never an oil stain either. so you never know.

Although, the knock off brands do seem to be more prone to smell and oil leach. A good soap and water wash to get all the factory muck off and a good airing afterward should help.

I gave her a nice scented wash today, previously I'd not used scented soaps, so hopefully after a couple more then all will be good
