Getting turned off by AI?

Hello all,

I must admit, when it comes to doll forums, I don't like AI one bit. I like to see beautiful dolls being photographically loved by their owners (doesn't need to be great photography, an amateur photo taken with love is super, and that's all I do.)

I find myself wishing for a time before AI - which was only a few years ago.

I remember when I first joined UKLDF as young, innocent Mr Flibble, who had no experience of forums. A total social media noob. I was inspired by all these real pictures people shared of their dolls, to go out and get a doll. Seeing the great collections of Mr Spice, Mr Shamus and others, blew my mind. I never realized one could have their own harem of life sized dolls. And yes, I did go a bit over the top 😆.

Seeing AI stuff does little for me.

If I don't comment or like on your AI posts, apologies, it's not you, it's me. If you enjoy AI, keep doing it. I just felt like I needed to get a post like this off my chest. I feel less a part of this forum than in the past (when I was Mr Dibble.)

Understandable Mr Hunt, AI is not for everyone. But I have noticed that this forum has turned more into a real doll, AI hybrid forum. But its all thriving because of it I feel, AI has a huge presence here, as does the real doll posts.

If there is enough interest, I can have a post ask it the post is doll or AI before it will send, and then AI can be filtered out so that it is not shown al all to thouse that don't want to see it? That is a huge change and if wanted, would be done in August when i have more time. Let me know. I'll start a new thread offering it.

What would be even more useful is for the forum to have a "mark entire board read" button.

On most forums (not just doll forums), I typically go right to "Latest Posts", open in a new tab anything that seems interesting, then mark the entire site read. That way the things I'm not interested in don't keep showing up in the "New Posts" or "Latest Posts" or whatever and distracting me or making it hard to find content that is genuinely new to me (and that is also interesting).

If that would be too hard, at least please make opening the "11 minutes ago" button on a post in a new tab mark the post as having been read, just like a real non-javascripted link would, so it at least gets rid of the red NEW flag in "Latest Posts". Could at least that be done, please?

Regarding AI, I rarely look at anything advertised in the title or whatever as AI, or at threads that I know to be full of AI ( such as anything by Jed 😄 ), so a "hide AI" posts button would be nice.

Ai wasn't even a thing when I first joined TDF, but manual photo manipulation was alive and well. Folks often, myself included, tweaked their photos a bit to make them more visually appealing. Nothing new there, just the way it's being done now. But yeah, I get that some find it off putting. I'm the same way with overly sexual photography. If I don't comment or click the like button, it's nothing personal. I just tend to avoid the chile sections.

Ai is clever but I notice some posts seem to concentrate on Ai only not the actual doll herself - it does put me off a bit I think maybe there should be a separate Ai thread only for people who just want this sort of thing - or at least post the real doll next to Ai

It’s true that I have been posting a lot of AI images, but I haven’t neglected real Doll photos either, and I’ve enjoyed doing both.
But you should notice that if I post an AI image, it is always in the AI forum, which has been specifically set up for that purpose. That way AI images are confined to a single forum and they aren’t mixed in with regular photos of actual dolls.
One of the reasons I do the AI stuff is simply for the fun of it, trying to create images or stories that reflect the character I’ve given my dolls. I’m not in a position to be continually buying lots of different clothes for them and then dressing, posing and lighting them - I don’t have the time to do that and I find that once I have photographed a Doll in a particular set of clothes, then I won’t use the clothes again, so it seems like a waste of money - perhaps I just need to dress them and not worry about the photographs.
I do see everybody’s point of view in this. Many just want to see the actual dolls, and that’s fair enough, that’s our primary reason for getting interested in dolls; but the AI stuff, for me, brings them to life in a way that I can’t, except in my head. So I will keep on photographing my dolls as they are (though I still use FaceApp occasionally to add a background so that they’re not just standing against a wall), and I will keep on doing AI images because I do it primarily for myself but I know there are members who enjoy them, but I will keep them restricted to the AI forum set up for this purpose. If people aren’t interested in anything in that forum then they can switch it off, there’s facility for doing that.
Let’s not use this particular discussion to create any division though, and let’s ensure that nobody feels excluded on the basis of their own personal preferences.

No thats fair enough. I did post a Thread on my lounge called just chillin out with just Buffy laying on my bed, as she is, basically just chillin out, unfortunately she has no skeleton and cannot really pose, as she is plushie and not TPE. I would have added Thea and Coco, and anyone can post their ladies in their original form with NO ai

I havent bothered adding Coco and Thea, as no one commented and i got one smiley face on the Thread, but its there for non ai photos

Now that it's been brought up, I myself have been starting to feel like an outsider because I don't know how to do AI. Nor do I have the ambition to learn.
I felt I little bit that way on UKLDF too because all the others were so much better photographers than myself. I still try though, and post as many photos as I can of my dolls Non enhanced of course. I also enjoy looking at some of the AI content but not all.
I have noticed though that this forum has become more AI than not, but then so has the whole internet.

You can turn Chilli photos off from appearing in the latest posts list from your settings page. This won't affect Bobbies forum though (I don't think)?

Don’t worry, I am just the same - also I was very hesitant to post anything on UKLDF as I thought it was much more “professional” than I - I was made welcome on there though.
I am totally incompetent at photos and have never even tried to do AI. Furthermore I can’t see myself being interested enough to explore the possibilities for a few years yet - maybe when I retire and have more time to kill, by then it will probably be even better and easier to learn.
I really love my dolls and like chatting about them and the interaction with other dolls & owners on here - AFAIK it doesn’t have to always be completely about AI & and photos. My understanding is any appropriate doll related content is welcome on here. My girls and I have certainly been made welcome.
I really like looking at the great photos and AI stuff other members post though…..and I totally get the possibilities it offers, by way of example two of my girls have been on “adventures” and had lots of fun courtesy of Bobby and Jed which would have been almost completely impossible without AI. Also I am well aware of the sheer amount of work involved in changing dolls outfits and buying nice fitting clothing , this can be done with the click of a mouse with AI.(I presume)
I’m sure someone would tell me to go away if I wasn’t welcome on here due to my shortcomings 🤣

Yes, I know, but I don't mind seeing chilli's listed in latest posts. It's easy enough to skip over things that don't interest me and I only have access to mild chilli anyway.

We don't use AI, most all the shows and movies use our own system (puppet pin), it's very hard to use, but we have made it better and better over the years, it's now above most AI, and much more in keeping with the doll Lady's

The main thing being we did it, took lots of time but that's what makes the movies and shows special, we don't really look at the AI here, only quick and read text, as for Admin use only, so you don't get comments or likes.

The main thing for us is the open days and movie nights, that you can come to for real, take live photos with your lady's, ride a real bike, ride the Bond ski bike, fly a 747 plane, take part in many themes, like a real live wild west shoot out in the new Cowboy bar, lots of, back drop photo shoots, and drive my real car and lots more, like being at a Movie prem on the real red carpet with the stars.

For us it's the way to go, and it's all been many years in the making, but it's now here and you can join us with your Lady's for real, even better next year.

I can't help thinking the Doll sites look more like porn sites every day, and we really miss those real doll photos of days gone by, there were many more comments back in those days.

Also more posted, as photos of the dolls were more like what a new-be to the site could do, and would not feel out of place.

For us many old photos feel out of place here now, so don't get posted any more, Movies can be up the 2 to 3 hours long, so to big to add to the site, and can only be seen on the real Cinema nights and Open Day weekends, but you wont beat coming with your Lady's so check at the Kemble, we would love to meet more of you, and your Lady's, Lady-J👍

I have no time for artificial crap , if you can’t do it don’t brag about it , boobs and pussy’s seem ok but a few words upset some folk , may be it’s pick on a small plush doll time , remember Sara well poor lass went the same way , yeh go on blush you know who I mean , my babes live with me in the living room and I’m not ashamed to invite folk into the house - they don’t be hidden away in the back bedroom . As for my photos the camera don’t lie and I do not photo shop .

Thats fair enough. Whos upset? We are just debating, no ones having a go at anyone. Sara left on her own accord, no one forced her, but her owner used foul language towards me in a DM and told me HE was in charge and what HE said was the most important thing.

I dont put up with threats and foul language and swearing at me. Im not ashamed of my dolls either and i live in my room most of thr time. I live with a relative and they dont like them, but who is picking on your ladies?

I like Carly and your other ladies. Carly is cheeky, but fun. I like her cheekiness and yeah i am cheeky back, but just out of fun, nothing nasty. Yes i am a naughty chap on here, but i like to have a bit of fun. The real world is serious enough.

I dont have issues with anyone on here and see you all as friends, whether you own a TPE or plushie or Teddybabe or torso lady and all your ladies are fab!

Also just a note some folk may use Ai because they may struggle to lift their TPE dolls and move them. Obviously i can move my ladies, but they are basically just stuffed plushies, no skeleton and unable to pose, hence i use Ai

There is still scope for both ai and original doll photography on here in my opinion and i try to look at ALL Threads and comment, as i enjoy all aspects of the doll lifestyle 😄

Admittedly i am a naughty chap and i suspect my naughtiness has rubbed off on other Members, but im single and just like to have fun with the ladies.

I totally understand that no specialist interest forum will ever be all things to all people but surely we can all full accept and appreciate all aspects of the doll world on here.
Doll owners in general are probably (sadly) stigmatised enough even in this so called “tolerant” modern society without feeling further alienated by fellow enthusiasts.
The bottom line is if I see something I don’t like on here - I don’t have to look at it ! (Never happened though)
Although of course I fully respect and appreciate everyone else’s opinions , posts and general input to the forum regardless if it’s AI, photo shop, role play, real poses, silicone TPE, plushie, photography, dress up whatever etc.
Basically if it’s doll related I’m probably going to like it or at least be open minded enough to be interested in looking at it without being judgmental or negative. 😀

I find there are not a lot of great things happening in the world... It is so nice to come home from work, switch off from what's happening in the real world and do something doll related, most of the time during the week I am pretty knacked when I get home from work, I tend to sit with a cuppa and catch up with doll life on several forums, social media sites and a hell of a lot of discord servers. I read what I like and skip what I don't fancy reading that day. I do like looking at other members posts and certainly their photos, I read a lot more than I write, I can be pretty bad I letting folks know I've liked what I have seen. I like 'the like button' and use that a bit more. (I miss the 100% button here on this site).

When it comes to AI, I sit firmly on the fence... I love the way AI can transform an image into a video (making a real doll photo come to life), but even then I prefer the doll(s) in video to look like they did in the original photo, just an animated version of them. I also think if members are having fun here posting AI photos of their girls, they are marked accordingly and it's is bringing life to the forum then that is a good thing, forums are pretty useless if nobody is posting. AI photos aren't really my thing, I often just choose not to view them if I don't like them. I have more of an issue with those members on other doll platforms that promote dolls for manufacturers and use AI to enhance their images, I think that is totally wrong. We are not promoting dolls here on this site, it is just for fun, so I don't see the issue.

In regards to photos, I just take standard photos, they are mostly photographed in manual and saved in RAW so do I use lightroom to get them into some useable state, I don't enhance them, I don't use Photoshop, it is too big and complicated for me, I use a pretty decent modern mirrorless DSLR camera, I have an excellent lens and more importantly I use a lot of lighting, it is the lighting that helps, I have posted photos on this forum that were taken on my mobile phone but with the same lighting setup, when they are reduced down to forum size you can't tell the difference, it is a bit annoying really when that happens because my phone cost about £2.5K less than my camera and lens.
