Well today we had an oops moment. 😂
We got the tracks laid up to the door, ( not through yet but that will happen before long) but then we discovered a slight miscalculation in our measurements.

We made the cart just a hair too wide to fit through the door. 🙄

Oops!

Now Joe is talking about making another cart, but I think we can narrow this one enough by removing the trim.
We'll only have one load that has to go into the room and the cart should never have to go through the door again.

Then the trim can go back on.

Besides, I think the next rolling stock we make should be a locomotive of some sort.😁

I was working with someone who told me he’d been to someone’s house (mansion maybe) in Berkshire (he cannot say exactly) where they had a full size steam engine and track setup going around the house. Would be amazing to see.

If you hinge that end of the cart you'll have automatic unloading!

Yes, but the heavy machining tool that has to go into that room cannot be dumped off. It has to be lifted on to a bench with an engine hoist wich has to be assembled inside beforehand.

Yes you are right Carly, mr Bin had told me he had it all worked out, but now I've found out that he forgot to measure the doorway.🙄 He assumed it was wider than it is.🙄

This week we finished the turnout.

The reason we needed to make a turnout is that we decided next year to extend the main line towards the woodshed. The location of that is on the other side of the house, near the front.

Once the track is finally extended that far, we will be able to unload the firewood at the back lane. The train can then be used to move it to the woodshed.

Fastening the guard rails

Mounted the switch leaver to a post

Time for a Whisky break and try out the switch.

A hard right onto the spur to the porch room door

And straight to the future main line extension.

And it works good👍😁

Please excuse all the junk in the background.🙄 Our next project will be cleaning all that up.
