Playing trams

Our new layout is made on half a wallpaper pasting table , keeping it simple and small so it can be played with in the living room (that’s when mr track gets old and can’t get in the loft 😁)
Bla , bla , we start half way through as the track had to be lifted because of a crossed wire , but the fault was in one of the turnouts .
The track for both tram and bus is by Tomix , trams are Tomix and Kato , bus are home built using Base Toys and Oxford die-cast utilising Tomix bus chassis.

Hi Lesly , it is N scale , 9mm track , we are using 140mm curves and turnouts , Tomix do super mini 106mm curves . Unlike Kato Tomix track is single, and using their railway turnouts with fill in sections to complete the road way , to make double track the next radius clips along side , as do the roadway for their moving bus .

Here’s pretty little me with our latest 5 unit tram from Tomix , it runs nice but unlike Kato is does’nt have lights .
You buy the tram , and chassis separately, then just unclip the tram chassis and clip the motorised one in .

On mr dongo’s thread mr bobby asked if it was a department store , yes mr bobby it is , like other buildings on the layout it’s card built ,,,,

Yeah i like the Cinema too. Folk can see a late night show and then its not too far to get the bus home😆 can you you show us the full layout in your photos?

Mr track came in with a new card kit , so little me will make it whilst mr track gets in the way 🤥 ,,,,

I'd never thought much of card models until Metcalfe appeared. The laser cut card is excellent.

Reading this thread makes me want to dig out my old electric race car set. 🙂

We like the 1950’s Bilt-Ezi card sheets that you cut and glue to card , to me the Medcalfe kits are too flat , also they could do with a spruce of gutters/ down pipes . But on the layout you got to use a bit of every thing .

I recall that. Hamblins in Cecil Court in Charing Cross Road. In 1961 there was a murder in a curiosity shop in Cecil Court.

Ha Lesly , the kits have been found at model railway exhibitions / shows , they are dated as they where printed in the 1950’s , before the kit is made it is photo copied so there is spare parts , we think the kits are or have been reprinted by one of the larger UK model train shops over the past few years .

We finished to Tudor shops ,as we already had a couple , so now we can add a old time street behind the department store ,,,

And the postie brought a bag of trees , mr track says he had them specially made for him by a good freind in China 😁
