Disposing of a doll at your local Recycling Centre

If someone turns up at the recycling centre with a full size (like 170cm tall) love doll (with metal skeleton and everything). What would happen to it?

I cannot imagine someone at the recycling centre, having the time to de-flesh it, so can put the metal skeleton in the metal bin, and "flesh" in black bags in the black bag waste.

I understand what you mean, Im only referring to main tips. Personally I have no idea how I would dispose of a metal skeleton doll, Im just saying anything in a bin is generally safely disposed of from prying eyes.

Yes, that’s basically what I have always done, - respectfully dismantled her separating the TPE from the skeleton then feed the TPE into the black bin over a couple of weeks or so, and the skeleton into any appropriate metal recycling facility (scrap yard) etc, this way seems a bit more Eco friendly, but the skeleton can of course go in the black bin too.
BUT I would really like to emphasize that its always worth a small amount of effort to first advertise her for free - that way someone might get some further benefit and its less landfill (or incineration)

I could never cut up a doll. If you’d seen the images that somebody posted here a few months back of them having done that, then you’d understand why I (and others) felt so distressed by it (the pictures had to be removed).
But I agree, always advertise a doll for free first. No matter how loose the joints have become or scarred or broken the skin is, there are often people who will take the doll for free, maybe because they can’t afford to buy one themselves. I gave one away for free that was in something of a state, but the person who took it just wanted to dress her in an outfit and sit her on the sofa with him so that he felt he had company in the evenings when he was watching TV. All the loose joints weren’t an issue, and the scarred skin would be covered up by clothing anyway. I’ve given a couple of other dolls away for free too. In one case, delivery was arranged by the guy receiving it, in the other I met him halfway and he paid me for my fuel. And it was actually really good to meet another person who appreciated dolls.

Yes, I agree - I wish I had the benefit of a “free” doll when I first started as I would have learnt a lot about general doll care and handling without the cost of buying new. A free doll even in poor condition can be a valuable education resource even if she’s not ultimately suitable for what the new owner would like. Anything that gets a “second life” or is re-purposed in some way has to be the best solution.

Maybe there is a business opportunity here for someone.

"We dispose of your doll wholesale. For the bargain price of £100, we'll collect your doll and send her on her way."

Or perhaps a cremation service for dolls:

I know what you mean of course but it’s always worth offering her, like Jed says sometimes someone might want one just to dress up and get some idea of what doll ownership is all about.

Well a lot of folk probably won't use it, they will just shove their food in the normal bin🤣🤣. My relative said its too much hassle.

Yes, absolutely. I caused so much damage to my first doll because I hadn’t learned anything about doll care. I would highly recommend somebody buying a secondhand doll or getting a free one first, to “learn the ropes”.

Well, I am aware of people who make a point of taking old dolls and cleaning them up a little and perhaps doing some repairs and then selling them on. So it might well be a small business opportunity; although I don’t think it would be that lucrative, it would be done more for the passion.

Well, well. I know a lot of guys who are on food collection. It looks easy but it isnt. Some poor sod drags a 'slave' bin round the streets, emptying small caddies into the slave bin, it doest take long for said slave bin to reach 100KG; its hard work Thea.
Im on a dust cart, I have 'my' own round, always in the sticks, we collect from remote areas, farms and tight access where the big machines cant get into. I love it, Im a navigator, loader. Some days we drive 130 across the county when the average dust cart does just 35, up and down straight roads.
So, had your Bobby done this sort of thing before?

I don't think so🤔, it will be potato peelings and leftover food and as we only have a collection of different bins on alternate weeks it may not smell very nice. My girls eat the best food i can provide like Birds eye and Heinz. Not leftover curry or chinese or other stuff people don't want.

It does mean though that i can purchase better food for us ALL to eat 👍 it may well be overcooked, but it will be the BEST😊

Well, I don't think my bestie will get rid of me anytime soon. However, he did say when the time comes, he would just leave me sitting on a park bench wearing an "I am a Virgin" t-shirt.

And knowing my bestie, I am sure he will hide a video camera nearby to capture all of the reactions. Probably post the videos on a doll forum too.

Anyway, I imagine I would get recycled one way or another. 🤣
