Well I recieved a reply from the author of the video and replied to her, explaining why I started out with dolls. I did say I was on a forum, but not which one, as I wasn't too sure that was the right move. . I also explained not all guys go for the perfect body, and that I had a curvaceous black lady as I'm into curves😁

You see theres no shame in Doll ownership. I did also say a lot of guys like to just photograph their ladies. I guess if everyone was okay with it I could try and respond again and give the the name of our forum. It may create some new members, but I'll hang fire and see what you all think😊

Hmm 🤔. Not sure but I would err on the side of caution. Might open a door to the influx of those who’d just want to condemn and find fault.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't give any details away, unless Mr. Story and Lady-J agreed

You didn't say what the author told you. That would be interesting to know.

But I am not so sure that she is unbiased on doll ownership. She only mentions companionship and photography in passing and in video showing doll ownership, the only shows this...

... a very unflattering depiction of a legitimate problem that not only doll owners, but the general population struggle with.

But the fact that this is the most prominent statement about doll owners in her video only reinforces the stereotype.

The video is particularly insulting to my bestie whose house is filled with dolls of all sizes and types. Who has not spent a single day since the age of 16 without being in a relationship (wife, fiancé, steady, or girlfriend(s)) and I am sure that he is far from the only doll owner that can say that.

She just said she liked my comment and was pleased that I had found a connection with my ladies. I explained in my comment why i had my ladies and that not every guy looks for the perfect figure on a doll. I mean we all have dolls for our own reasons. We are all different as humans and have different needs.

I liked some of the points she made in the video and the word ' connection ' I mean other guys are married and still have dolls for photography or if their wife has gone off intimacy or sex, but I'm a single guy and my girls keep me company in many ways.

Maybe you or Pexter could make a comment on the video Hanna.

I am glad that she read your comment and hopefully learned something new from it.

Everything I, and others, want to say on the topic of doll ownership is here, on this thread for the public to see and hopefully understand us better.

I started this particular thread to educate non-doll owners about why we own dolls by telling our stories. I am sure we have a number of visitors coming here looking to find a freak show. I want nothing more than to disappoint them by showing us to be quite normal.

Any legitimate researcher into doll ownership knows where to find us (on the forums) and ask for participants in their study. Then we can decide of they have our best interests in mind. To comment on a sex therapists video, I don't see how that benefits my goal toward destigmatization.

But if you commenting on your specific situation, makes you feel good, then my all means you should speak your mind. That's therapeutic. That's good.

I wouldn't say it was therapeutic or particularly made me feel good. I'm just trying to get the word out there that we are normal folk who enjoy our ladies, whether that be for photography or companionship. If I see an opportunity to spread the word I will take it, within reason😁

As what you’ve written on this subject is so comprehensive snd highly articulate, and because there’s a wealth of info and experience on this thread, then I wonder if, rather than writing a book, Pexter could do a YouTube video on the subject yourself? It would reach a far bigger and wider audience than the forum. I think that this interest (and lifestyle) of ours, needs to be presented by someone who has dolls and can communicate competently to the public. I’d support in any way I could but I I just don’t have his very articulate communication skills.

Thank you for the vote of confidence! Doing a video would be a monumental task as we would need video from every type of doll owner. That is something only a documentary film maker could pull off well. Maybe one day, one will stumble on this forum and thread and think, "Hey, there is a good story here." and go with it. That is the reason I put this thread on a public instead of in a members only forum. People need the truth about us.

I know there have been nibbles on this doll site and others that didn't pan out. But maybe one of these days, some documentary film maker will run with it for no other reason than to cover an interesting topic in depth that no one has done before.

What We Have Covered So Far
This thread has evolved into a thoughtful, surprisingly nuanced discussion about what doll ownership actually looks like, far beyond the usual stereotypes. Across the posts so far, several core themes have emerged: dolls as companions, dolls as artistic collaborators, dolls as stabilizing presences in people’s lives, and the ongoing tension between how owners see themselves and how outsiders perceive them.

Highlights so far:
  • Doll ownership is far from one-dimensional; for many, it’s emotional support, creativity, and companionship.
  • Owners describe daily routines, artistry, and comfort that outsiders rarely imagine.
  • The biggest challenge remains stigma, both external and internal to the community.
  • A proposed photo-essay/e-book aims to redefine how the public understands dolls and the people who live with them.
  • Even within the community, there’s a call for inclusivity: realistic dolls, plush dolls, fabric dolls, every type has value.

If you’re joining late or skimming, it’s absolutely worth scrolling back to the start of the thread to see how these ideas first developed and why they resonated so strongly with our members.
