Camping with your dolls

Hello again, all!

So myself and several of my friends (whom I met through my sorted adventures working in the NYC night life entertainment industry) are taking a trip to a secluded cabin on a lake this month. We all have August birthdays and figured we could use a holiday.

I'll be bringing Kani with me and wanted to know what advice you all have for keeping my TPE lady safe and clean. I'd also love to hear your experiences with taking your companions on outdoor trips. Maybe share some photos of them having fun in the sun 🌞 😎

Never taken any camping, but a couple of my 1/3 scale terrors, Jhipri and Ji Woo went picnicking on their motorcycle. 🍗🏍️

Oh I love this! I'm amazed they made it down those stairs. They really adventurous, your tiny terrors 😂 And I love the idea of using a bandana as picnic blanket.

We find sleeping bags are good to keep your Doll safe and clean, use a white liner or sheet round your Lady first, or check the bag has a white liner inside, Lady-J (y)

This is invaluable advice to have.

She's a bit too small for a full size sleeping bag but I'm sure I could sew something that's similar. She's only 60cm tall so thankfully it won't take a lot of fabric.

My Jhipri is 60cm and Ji Woo just over 63cm. I generally just put them in a shopping bag when we do outdoor shoots to protect them while I set up.

They've been everywhere in all kinds of weather. Even the roof! 🫣

I have BJD carry bags that I've used over the years but they are in rough shape. I'm going to be in a car for hours with four people, their luggage, and probably a large amount of fire works so I want to be sure she's extra safe. I've also never had a TPE doll and have read some sad stories of girls getting stained.

Yes, dark colors can potentially stain TPE. Not the end of the world though, benzoyl peroxide acne creams of all things can help fade most stains. I've never had any really bad stains and the ones that did occur all faded on their own without doing anything.

Hot car interiors are not the best environment for TPE either. TPE can deform long before it reaches the melting point. So be careful there. As far as protecting her in transit, you could probably find a box a doll that size would fit into. Just wrap her in something soft like a towel and you'll be good to go.

You mentioned that one of your dolls may be silicone. To be on the safe side, I'd keep those apart. TPE and silicone should not be in direct contact with one another as certain types of silicone can breakdown TPE.

I have a busted ankle so I've already been given the passenger seat for our journey, so thankfully I'll be right in front of the air conditioner. I'll gladly hold whatever I decide to transport her in, on my lap. I'll be sure to not leave her in the hot car at any point.

So I'm not sure if my other doll is TPE or silicone. The sellers said he was silicone, but as he's only sold on the one site (I found him in three shops there) I couldn't find any more info than the sellers told me. I have video of him and I'm sure someone with a discerning eye would know immediately. I can't post it though because I don't have access to the chilli section 😜

Does that mean one of the dolls will be driving?
We like to drive, but Joe doesn't trust us behind the wheel :giggle::LOL::ROFLMAO:

Haha! Well, I don't have any 1:1 scale companions atm and sadly my little miss is only 60cm tall. She might be able to work the pedals if my boy arrives and agrees to work the steering wheel. But quite frankly, I wouldn't trust her 😉
She only just shipped out yesterday and isn't here yet, but I already know she's going to be wild and chaotic.

Hard to tell just from pics and video anyway. Most times silicone has more pronounced seam lines than TPE, is stickier and not quite as soft. but that's not always the case. Silicone is much more heat resistant though.

Ah, ok. I'll err on the side of caution, as you suggested.

Well I'm taking my cuddle monster for her first trip away next Wednesday for a trip to visit another Member. But shes a plushie. But I'm sure she will be reporting back.

I've just got a big long bag to put her in and will put a padlock on the bag, and yeah shes not really a monster. It's a five hour trip and we are going to another Country, the Country of Wales. Anyway here she is. Shes still asleep at the moment, but this is a photo of her and yes she does like Jaffa cakesShes quite a big girl, so I needed a big bag and shes called Coco, but the padlock is for the protection of fellow travelers, if she gets she will cause Mayhem!!

A member of the UKLDF advised that, when our darlings are seated in a car, we must always ensure that they are properly secured/fixed; otherwise, they might be damaged by the vibrations of the car. He also used cushions.
He travelled all over Europe with his blue girl. Hopefully he will find his way to our forum one day!

Mr Franz- yeah, that's exactly how I pictured it would work. I'm sure they won't get into any accidents, driving like that 😆


Bobby Bo- Oh she's too adorable 😍 I'll bet she's wonderfully cozy to hold on winter nights. I appreciate a woman who loves her food and is unashamed to say so so I like her already. Can't wait to hear all about her trip to Wales!

Jaspis- That makes sense to me. I would do the same if Kani was bigger.

I have so many thoughts running through my mind all at once. I'm going to post a thread with pics soon, but Kani and I are just enjoying holding hands on the couch right now 🥲 She feels so real.
And she arrived in a little pink sleeping bag 😉
