😊 Thanks Harper, and girls yeah tomorrow is my last day, i start on Thursday 5th for my induction at 7am, then i start on the round on Friday, wherever they send me.

Then in March the food waste recycling starts and i start on that with a driver. So i start off as a bin man, then become a food recycling Operative in March 😊

Cheers, well for the past week or so, ive been getting up at 4am in the morning and then walking into work at around 5am so i can arrive at 5.45, as there is no bus that time of the morning around my area. Just to get my body into a routine, otherwise it will be a bit of a shock to the system as i haven't worked in over 2 years😯

Well i used to unload articulated lorries, cages and pallets with a manual pump truck and then push or pull them up a ramp to the scissor lift and send them up to the guys in the warehouse and there was no aircon down there in the yard or the pit we used to call it for a retail store.

Bring back memories of factory life, back in the day.

I can imagine the stink now LOL

Well it wasn't exactly a factory, it was a retail company and it used to get so hot in the pit or yard that i could take my work shirt off and squeeze the sweat out of it🤣🤣

Well i can always wear a face mask🤣🤣

Have you considered riding to work on a bicycle or e-scooter. My bestie has an e-scooter that goes over 20 mph (32kph) and folds up and carries like a suitcase so he can take it on the train.

You would be amazed how many guys you see in business suits, backpack instead of briefcase strapped on their backs, zooming downtown streets buzzing past cars stuck in traffic.

I may well do that in the spring/Summer, but this is the view i get at the moment at 5am when i leave ( I'm rehearsing my walk to get into a routine every morning )

I have to start at 5.45am, although I'm finished by 3.09 pm in the afternoon😊

We have the Brompton folding bicycle over here. I used to use one every day. They are fabulous bikes and they can come fitted with dynamo lights. I highly recommend them.

Well its Bobbys last day of rehearsing his walk and tomorrow he does it for real. I think he is a little anxious as he hasn't done anything like this before and comes from a retail background. Also the boy hasn't worked in nearly 3 years

But tomorrow is his induction day, so he is starting at 7am and will be at the depot, then Friday he starts on a bin round.

Also later this morning he is helping his Sister with her shopping for the last time and going to visit her for lunch.

Well ive made him is ☕ and he is ready for the Off, so I'm hitting the sack😴 goodnight all😊

Well this is the day our Bobby starts as a Recycling Operative😊

He will try and get on here later when he can. He starts at 7am today for his induction, and is walking as he doesn't trust the buses. The bus company ordered a load of new hydrogen buses, but one caught fire in the depot, so they are being investigated.

Meanwhile the company are having to hire buses or borrow them and they don't always show up.

Anyway its ☕ time, and then😴 for me, so see you laters

Hi yeah, the day started of badly and it kind of went downhill from there🤣🤣

Yeah it was throwing it down when i left and i thought i had got myself organised, but i walked halfway there and my torch gave up, then i realised i had left my phone at home with my mobile ticket on. Then i dropped my vaper, lucky i had a spare one.

Then i sat watching videos and answering questions on an ipad with some other guys and it was too much information to take in to be honest. I'm not very mechanically minded either.

Then we went outside for practical sessions and it wouldnt even pick my bin up, it has to be put on a certain way and then there are three or four buttons you need to press in the right order to get the hoist to pick the bin up and i had brain freeze, i couldnt get it😯

It was too much info for me to take in and tomorrow I'm out on a round, i just thought you pressed a button and the hoist just picked the bin up and emptied it and then you attached the next one😯

I just hope i am out on a round with an understanding crew tomorrow, otherwise im in the poop🤣🤣

Retail was a doddle to this😯

I know just what you mean- I have done a few works / site safety etc type induction training sessions a bit like that, You usually do absorb the info - just takes a few days / weeks to get into the rhythm of any new thing… Im sure you’ll be perfectly OK in due course,,,,,

Yeah I wasn't really used to all the terms he used to call things either. I'd of prefered worksheets, so i could of taken them home to refresh my brain. Lucky for me most of the questions were multiple choice. I would of prefered bite size pieces of info, but i was there from 7am, until lunchtime and my brain could only take so much info. The crew i will be going out with will be experienced tomorrow, so i hope they are understanding, the thing is everyone learns at their own pace, depending on their background. I just feel like a bit of a wally

My brain is not very technically minded im afraid, ive unloaded lorries and used different lifts, to send stock up, in retail but they were just two buttons and an emergency stop button. I guess if i had some idea beforehand,i did try to find stuff on youtube, but there wasnt much at all

Well i feel knackered and i havent even done anything today. My brain hurts🤯
