Anyway, Coco decided to try and  make some pancakes, as we missed out yesterday due to some visitors coming round. She ended up in a mess, bless her, but she tried, at least they weren't all burnt. I decided to cheat and buy some ready made ones for today that you can just put in the microwave 🀣🀣 Both girls are at the club, as Buffys got the miseries, its just me and cuddly CocoπŸ˜‰

Well its just me and Coco today. The girls are doing their own thing at the club, Coco is asleep and its a disgrace, but i had to make my own coffee🀣🀣

Well my fit note runs out today. Trying to get another appointment is a nightmare with a Doctor. They want you to use an App which dosent work properly, i have requested a meeting at the Jobcentre in confidentiality a week ago, but no one replied and so i phoned the DWP up and explained to them. The chap said he was going to book me a meeting and nothing so far.

The problem is if you dont do anything the DWP and jobcentre are the first ones to have a go. I want a confidential area to speak as its an open office in jobcentre and everyone can hear your conversations. I dont think its too much to ask, they have rooms.

I just dont want to be sanctioned, which they can do if you either quit your job without good reason or are fired. My Doctor was kind enough to write the Jobcentre a letter and says he back me up if necessary

Anyway its time for me to make MY own β˜• 🀣🀣 πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ

20th February 2026

Morning,

Well Coco is asleep and one of the girls is coming back tomorrow, Buffy from the club.

I have been set an appointment at the Jobcentre after waiting for nearly 2 weeks to speak to someone. I hope its in a private area otherwise i shall say nothing, as i don't want the whole of the office overhearing. Ive asked twice for a private area. Its on the 3rd March.

Obviously i am still open and looking for work, in retail or prehaps a factory, but there aren't too many of those where i live now, just something that i can do full time and the money isn't too bad, especially if i have to travel on public transport. Train fares are ridiculous these days and the buses cant be trusted.

Well im off to make myself a coffee now!😊

Try a little motorcycle bobby. They are cheaper than public transport and are great fun in the summer.

21st February 2026

Morning 😳 horror, Bobkins is still in bed. Ive just returned from the club. Well its deffinately my turn in the sack tonight, even if Coco is still there, I'm going to squueze myself in. Well ive done it before, and I'm a lot slimmer.

Well today is take out day and four in a bed on TV, but it might well be three in a bed here later.

I think Bobby and coco have been watching the Omen films too, and ive never seen them, so i will demand a rerun, well i will use my girlie, feminine charms on Bobby. It normally works 🀣🀣

Well i shall make him a super duper β˜• coffee to start his day, but its nearly lunch time already. Well i guess it is the weekend, and he has nothing on ( not literally ) 🀣🀣 but that will change tonightπŸ˜³πŸ˜‰

Well there are a lot of special cycle tracks around our way now if i wanted an electric bike.
Obviously i want to work, preferably in retail in the warehouse or replenishment side, is 56 too old to do that? Most retail companies think so😳. Although its not written down anywhere.
Well i gave the bin job a shot. The guy who runs it said that a lot dont even start the job. They come for the induction day and never show up after that!

Well to be perfectly honest, when I was in retail management I wouldn't have given much consideration to a person of that age for a position like that. However, I would and did hire such individuals in a supervisory capacity and for sales positions.

I know nothing about retail and I have no wish to disrespect anyone but I would always choose someone older who is reliable and dependable over youthful enthusiasm. I deal with quite a few suppliers and subcontractors and they all tell me the same thing……. Many to the point they have down scaled their business to virtually a one man concern as a direct result of staffing issues.

Well unfortunately in the UK, companies like Tesco and Sainsburys and Aldi etc, like the university types for Supervisors and Management.
We had some in my last job in retail, no real life experience, of work and not much common sense. But to me a job is a job, even if its replenishment. I did it g for 18 years on nights and evenings. I mean it was hard graft, especially unloading lorries in the summer in an big enclosed yard with no air con that ever worked and then try to push heavy cages up a massive ramp and dragging pallets up with just a pump truck, not even an electric one.
I used to finish unloading, then load all the empty cages and then head upstairs and could literally squeeze the sweat out my work shirt., but we did have some fun!

Also its all about technology too these days. Companies want the younger generation who know a lot more about software and computers than i do. Half our supervisors were stuck doing paperwork and hardly ever got on the shopfloor or shift Managers they renamed them, but i liked doing the physical side, getting stuck in. Sometimes if the delivery was late us evening crew all stayed on to unload it, but it did come from Wales, near Newport🀣🀣

Same here, but experience goes a long way too. The wife just has a secondary school education from a tiny little country, but at her first ever job here, she worked her way up from part time cashier to store manager in less than a year. She's been in retail management ever since, with her experience carrying much more weight than her education.

Well ive heard companies say that and even the Jobcentre, ive applied for Tesco 7 times and never got an interview. They also use an outside company to sort out the right to work in the UK and half the time i don't even get the link to upload my passport. You cant just take your ID in when you get interviewed and show the Manager. You have to get a link on your email and upload it, i have emailed Tesco HR about not getting the link, but they say its nothing to do with them😳 which is very odd.
Sainsburys only seem to want young people. I had an interview there when i was first made redundant. The night Manager kept telling me that did i think i was up to task of doing what they wanted and they had timing on how long it should take someone to do certain things. My ex colleague got the job and i didnt. But half the time he has to run to get his stock out and if he dosent finish on time they ask him to stay on, obviously he isnt forced, but they just make it awkward for him.
Sainsburys excuse was that they couldnt give me the hours i wanted, but funnily enough my ex colleague got the hours he wanted, ive never run to get stock out and its also a health and safety issue. If you have an accident it would be on your head, and because a lot of the younger staff go sick, they always want him to do overtime and hes knackered. He has a family too

Been there, done that for work experience when i was at school and at the old Tesco in town, back in the 80s. It was actually fun, well a lot of big Tescos have a guy that drives a trolly collector truck around the car park these days.
I also did a stint at Macdonalds in my youth. At the time you could eat as much free food as you wanted if you worked for them, so i never went hungry. Those were the days of root beer too and cherry pies instead of the apple ones🀣🀣
