How I use AI—and what it costs
I use two AI multi-model platforms:
Open AI and Higgsfield. These give me access to a range of leading image and video models, including Nano Banana for images, and Seedance 2 and Grok Imagine for video.
My subscriptions are:
- Higgsfield Ultimate: about £240 a year, which works out at £20 a month.
- Open AI Pro: $336 a year, which works out at $28 a month.
I also have an Open AI team account, which expires in February. That cost considerably more, and I won’t be renewing it. If I can get the AI running on my home computer to produce results close to this standard, I’ll eventually stop renewing the other subscriptions too.
I knew there would be costs involved when I started. Until recently, I mainly created images, so one multi-model platform would have been enough. I just wanted to see which platform I prefer. Now that I’ve started making videos, the credits disappear much faster! So lucky I have both or I would NOT be able to make many video films of this length.
The last film featuring Ickle used all my Open AI credits for the month, plus some from Higgsfield. For the next film, I’m using cheaper models and hoping I can finish the rest of the Halloween story without spending anything extra.
I’ll also try using my home computer for the final film. Otherwise, I’ve still got Higgsfield available for the rest of this month—provided I can make the remaining credits last!
