Custom title are up and running. Just done some behind the scenes stuff, like make a new member for those that want a doll making for instance. Also worked on edit profile and edit account so you can change your email and passwords.

tomorrow will another full day. I should get all the new group photos uploaded. They have just been created by my daughter again, they are amazing!!!!!!

Changed the title under my name. Change appears on my profile, but not in posts. Still says "Companion" there.

All done.

OK folks, the big question. We have about 355 members. if I set it up that your account is deleted after a period of no activity, say about 3 months, that mean half the membership will be deleted.

ARE YOU SURE you want this. I am looking for at least three replies that it's ok to proceed.

It's seems a bit drastic, especially for members who have gone on a long cruise or got themselves locked up inside for a few months. 😆

How will that affect the posts/ replies, will that not wreck the theads?

What about just those with '0' posts and not on site for 6 months?

I would go for six months.

3 months does seem a bit short - especially if someone changes jobs or lifestyle , moves house, has an illness etc etc. but I suppose there is nothing to stop anyone re-joining regardless………

Spice, I mean for members that have made 0 posts, so deleteing them won't effect the forums at all. I didn't mention that in last post, but its what I had in mind. It was mentioned earlier in thread but nothing recent.

So you think 6 months from making an account till deletion, instead of 3 months for lurkers?

Six months seems reasonable.

Were you planning on just doing this once, or are you writing some sort of script that runs weekly or monthly to constantly remove those lurkers that have now reached 6 month?

3 months was 355 members with no activity, is 6 months much difference ?

I cannot really tell, but a lot of these dead accounts have been here since 2022, they have never been purged to date.

At least half the membership will be deleted when I write the script (or rather claude writes it), then yes every 7 days it will run again and delete any others that have been sat empty, and not visited for 6 months. Perhaps we should delete accounts that have 5 or less posts and not been visited for a year? That not been visited for statement is important because there are members that just like to watch what is happening, they are fine. Its the abandoned accounts that are not used at all that I am after removing.

If an account has zero posts, then I would suggest just remove it after three months.

Minor thing, but I noticed on the index page where it list the threads and who posted on them last, on a lot of them the member listed is incorrect.

Ohhhh really? Well if people start using the threads that should put itself right. It's the migration from old site, its a nightmare because the user_id is different between the two sites!

Seems to be correct when you hit "Latest Posts" so yeah, probably just a glitch in the migration.

Some# DBs have a setting that allows you to overrule/suspend the PK check for inserting data with index values you want to keep.

#well ok: Oracle does, but I can't remember what it's called offhand. Still, half the battle with these features is simply knowing they exist.

Well it's Claude that is doing like ALL of the coding. I'm just sat beside him telling what I want and watching him do the magic. Well until he make stupid decisions and stupid mistakes... thats not so much fun! And there's been plenty of that!
